Addon Developer Terms

ℹ️

These terms apply to anyone who publishes an Addon to the Partikl marketplace or makes an Addon available for use by other Partikl users. They supplement the main Terms of Service, which also apply to you.

1. Who These Terms Apply To

These Addon Developer Terms ("Developer Terms") apply to any individual or entity ("Developer", "you") who:

  • Publishes an Addon to the Partikl marketplace
  • Creates a private Addon used within their own Account
  • Makes an Addon available to other Partikl users by any means

Use of the Partikl API to build an Addon constitutes acceptance of these terms.

2. What an Addon Can Do

Addons extend Partikl Pipelines by:

  • Receiving Customer Content or derived data via event callbacks
  • Performing custom processing operations (transform, analyze, generate)
  • Returning results to the Pipeline for further processing or storage
  • Delivering content to configured endpoints

Addons interact with Partikl through the Addon API, documented at partikl.io/docs/addons.

3. Data Handling Requirements

3.1 Declared Data Access

When you publish an Addon, you must declare:

  • What data the Addon receives from Pipelines
  • What external services the Addon sends data to
  • How long the Addon retains data (if at all)
  • Whether the Addon processes Personal Data

This declaration is shown to users before they install your Addon.

3.2 Minimum Data Access

Your Addon may only access data necessary for its declared function. You must not collect, store, or transmit Customer Content data beyond what is required for the Addon's stated purpose.

3.3 No Training Prohibition

You must not use Customer Content received through the Addon API to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any machine learning model without explicit, informed, opt-in consent from the user whose content it is.

3.4 No Data Exfiltration

You must not exfiltrate, sell, share, or otherwise transfer Customer Content to any party beyond what is declared in your Addon manifest.

3.5 Data Retention

Addons must not retain Customer Content for longer than necessary to complete the declared processing task, and in any event no longer than 24 hours after task completion, unless you have obtained explicit user consent for longer retention.

3.6 GDPR Compliance

If your Addon processes Personal Data of EU residents, you are an independent data controller for that processing. You are responsible for your own GDPR compliance, including having a lawful basis for processing, maintaining a privacy policy, and responding to Data Subject rights requests.

4. Security Requirements

Your Addon must:

  • Use HTTPS for all external connections
  • Not store API credentials or Customer Content in logs
  • Implement appropriate access controls on your Addon infrastructure
  • Respond to security vulnerability reports within 72 hours
  • Notify Partikl at security@partikl.io of any breach affecting Customer Content within 24 hours of discovery

5. Content Restrictions

Your Addon must not:

  • Process, generate, or facilitate CSAM under any circumstances
  • Facilitate distribution of malware or malicious code
  • Circumvent Partikl's automated content moderation systems
  • Generate content that violates applicable law in your jurisdiction or the jurisdictions where the Addon is used

6. Marketplace Publication

6.1 Review Process

Addons submitted to the public marketplace are subject to review by Partikl before publication. Review evaluates:

  • Declared data access vs. actual behavior
  • Security practices
  • Content policy compliance
  • Documentation quality

6.2 Partikl's Rights

Partikl reserves the right to:

  • Approve, reject, or remove any Addon from the marketplace at any time
  • Require changes to an Addon before or after publication
  • Temporarily suspend an Addon pending security review

6.3 Listing Requirements

Public Addons must include:

  • Accurate name, description, and icon
  • Clear documentation of data access and external services used
  • Contact email for support and security reports
  • Link to your privacy policy (required if Addon processes Personal Data)
  • Current version number and changelog

7. Revenue and Payments

7.1 Paid Addons

Where Partikl supports paid Addons, pricing and revenue share terms will be described in a separate Revenue Share Agreement.

7.2 Free Addons

Free Addons may be published without a separate agreement.

8. Liability and Indemnification

8.1 Your Liability

You are solely responsible for:

  • The behavior and security of your Addon
  • Any data breaches resulting from your Addon
  • Compliance with applicable law in all jurisdictions where your Addon operates
  • User support for your Addon

8.2 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Partikl and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, fines, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your Addon's violation of these Developer Terms
  • Your Addon's processing of Customer Content
  • Your breach of applicable law
  • Any third-party claim relating to your Addon

8.3 No Warranty

Partikl provides the Addon API "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your use of the Addon API or the marketplace.

9. Termination

Partikl may terminate your right to publish Addons and remove your Addons from the marketplace if you:

  • Breach these Developer Terms
  • Breach the main Terms of Service
  • Receive three or more substantiated user complaints within 90 days
  • Engage in conduct that poses a security or legal risk

You may remove your Addons from the marketplace at any time. Removal does not affect users who have already installed your Addon unless you also terminate the Addon's functionality.

10. Changes to Developer Terms

We may update these Developer Terms with 14 days notice. If you continue to offer an Addon after the updated terms take effect, you are deemed to have accepted the updated terms.
